Ep.6 - As férias de primavera do Uca (A1/A2)

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the Beginner European Portuguese Podcast powered by Uca Teaches Portuguese, I’m your hostess Raquel Reis!

Como estão? How’s everyone? I’m feeling excited because we’re halfway trough the A1/A2 text series. Yes, I have already decided that this series is going to have 12 episodes. Let’s say the first season has 12 episodes and if it goes well I can bring a second season with more 12 episodes! I really do hope you’ve been enjoying it and that above all it’s helpful for your studies.

As I’ve been adding entire transcripts of each episode and vocabulary flashcards I’ve been having quite a lot of fun picking the images for some vocabulary I hope you guys notice ahah I wish I could actually choose my own, but we work with what we have! Another thing I wanted to mention before we begin this week’s text is that the next following texts are going to be a bit more catered towards A2 students because we’re going to dive in a lot more into the Past tenses, prepositions and others.

This week’s text is about Uca’s spring break. It’s going to be about his trip with his family and a description of each day. This text is going to introduce both Past tenses into the series, so pay close attention to how both the Perfect Past (Pretérito Perfeito) and Imperfect Past (Pretérito Imperfeito).

As always the text is going to be read in two different speeds: the first one is slower and the second one is faster.

Todos os anos o Uca tem férias de primavera durante uma semana. Começam dia 15 de março e acabam dia 21 de março. A família toda dele também tem férias nessa altura. Eles vão sempre viajar.

Durante as férias da primavera, o Uca e a família dele foram a Lisboa. Eles viajaram de carro, para aproveitar a paisagem bonita ao longo do caminho. Chegaram à cidade por volta das 3 da tarde e foram logo para o hotel no centro da cidade. Eles ficaram lá só 3 dias.

No primeiro dia visitaram o famoso Castelo de São Jorge. No castelo a vista da cidade era espetacular. O Uca ficou encantado com as muralhas antigas e as histórias dos cavaleiros. À tarde, foram passear no Bairro Alto, ouviram fado e viram as ruas estreitas.

No segundo dia foram à Pastelaria de Belém. O Uca e a Cuca adoraram os pastéis de nata, porque estavam quentes e deliciosos. Depois, visitaram o Mosteiro dos Jerónimos e aprenderam sobre a história de Portugal. Este foi o sítio favorito da Cuca.

No último dia em Lisboa a família foi ao Parque das Nações. O Uca divertiu-se muito no Oceanário, onde viu peixes de todas as cores e tamanhos. A família toda andou no teleférico. Tinham uma vista linda do rio Tejo. Foi uma viagem inesquecível para o Uca e a sua família. O Parque das Nações tornou-se o sítio favorito do Uca.
