In this episode we’re going to read a text about Uca and Miguel’s trip to the Pico island. It uses Past Tense (Pretérito Perfeito and Pretérito Imperfeito) and a lot of vocabulary related to travelling as well as cultural food and experiences.

Hello everyone. Welcome to another episode of Beginner European Portuguese Podcast powered by Uca Teaches Portuguese. I’m your host Raquel Reis and today's text is going to be about Uca and his best friend Miguel’s trip to the Pico island.
There will be a lot of vocabulary related to traveling as well as cultural food and experiences, and in today's text we will be using the Past Tense (Pretérito Perfeito and Pretérito Imperfeito).

O Uca e o Miguel decidiram visitar a Ilha do Pico, nos Açores, conhecida pela sua paisagem vulcânica e pela incrível montanha que dá nome à ilha. Esta foi uma viagem de apenas 2 dias.
No primeiro dia, começaram com uma visita guiada à Gruta das Torres, o maior túnel de lava de Portugal. Percorreram os corredores formados por antigas erupções vulcânicas e aprenderam sobre a geologia da ilha. O Miguel ficou fascinado com as formações, enquanto o Uca fazia muitas perguntas ao guia turístico. Depois, visitaram as vinhas do Pico e participaram numa prova de vinhos. À tarde, relaxaram nas piscinas naturais.
No segundo dia, subiram a montanha do Pico até a um miradouro que tem uma vista deslumbrante da ilha. O Uca apreciou a tranquilidade, enquanto o Miguel descansava e observava as aves.
Antes de regressarem, fizeram um passeio de barco pela costa e avistaram golfinhos a nadar perto do barco. Este foi o ponto alto da viagem. Depois de voltarem ao continente queriam fazer uma última viagem, desta vez à Madeira.

Answers:
1) A viagem durou 2 dias. (The trip lasted 2 days)
2) No primeiro dia de manhã fizeram uma visita guiada à Gruta das Torres. (On the first day in the morning they did a guided tour to the Gruta das Torres)
3) No primeiro dia à tarde relaxaram nas piscinas naturais. (On the first day in the afternoon they relaxed in the natural pools.)
4) Na próxima viagem eles vão à Madeira. (On their next trip, they’re going to Madeira.)
